For more than half a century, the Jackson family has been rooted in the soil of California’s Central Valley. From the very beginning, farming wasn’t just a livelihood — it was a calling. What started with Mr. Jackson’s vision to grow the world’s best fruit has grown into Family Tree Farms: a multigenerational enterprise where tradition and innovation thrive side by side.
Three generations now work shoulder to shoulder in the orchards. Mr. Jackson remains a guiding pioneer, while his son Daniel Jackson and son-in-law Andy Muxlow carry forward his relentless pursuit of excellence — leading with the same values of stewardship, hard work, and care for both people and the land.
But even with their success, one challenge weighed heavily: the waste of fruit at its absolute peak. Perfectly ripened, full of flavor, and rich in nutrients, much of the harvest was deemed “second-grade” — too ripe, too small, or too unique in shape to make it to the fresh market in time. For the Jacksons, watching this abundance go uneaten wasn’t just inefficient; it was heartbreaking.
That’s when a new connection sparked change. Matt Fuller — a CPG veteran who helped transform Bare Snacks by championing rescued fruit — met the Jacksons through a mutual friend. Hearing their story, he saw a shared purpose. Alongside longtime colleague and business partner, Amanda Goers, Matt and Amanda teamed up with the family to turn that overlooked bounty into something bright, delicious, and sustainable.
The result is Jack & Sun — a brand born from heritage, fueled by innovation, and named in honor of the Jackson family. It’s where farmers and creators come together to rescue fruit, reduce waste, and make snacks that shine.
Because fruit deserves better. Farmers deserve better. And so do you.
